🌈 The Mission
Design an inclusive, emotionally attuned mental health app to support neurodivergent individuals, especially those living with bipolar disorder, in tracking moods, navigating urges, and building self-regulation skills with clarity and compassion.
Many users said they felt overwhelmed or judged by typical mental health apps.
Our goal was to create a soft, safe space that felt human, not clinical.
✨ Key Features
• A visual system grounded in emotional duality
The brand identity reflects bipolarity as a spectrum, not a diagnosis.
Blue for calm, red for intensity overlapping into purple: a space of balance, insight, and emotional clarity.
This metaphor guided everything from logo to micro-interactions.
• Accessible, neurodivergent-friendly UI
High-contrast, dyslexia-aware typography, clear hierarchy, touch-friendly zones, and gentle color transitions.
All components tested against WCAG 2.1 standards.
• Therapist-backed tools & structured flows
Users access guided self-regulation tools — like Urge Surfing, 3 Cs Practice, and Check Your Thoughts — co-designed with therapists.
UI was crafted to reduce cognitive overload while reinforcing emotional safety.
• Customizable Mental Health Plan
A flexible structure for users to define their warning signs, coping tools, and emergency contacts — always editable, never overwhelming.
• Peer Support Platform
I initiated and designed waveridersupport.io, a moderated chat space where users can talk anonymously or in group sessions with certified peer hosts.
